What happens if it rains??

One of the most common questions I get is about rain. Living in a coastal town it is not uncommon to get rain at some point during the day, almost everyday. Normally it lasts for and hour, maybe two and then moves off leaving things nice and humid.
The only time I don’t shoot is if it is actually raining. I do my best to reschedule if it is raining at our session time, depending on the length of stay, we may have to do a morning session instead of a sunset session. I only shoot 1 session per day so I can be as flexible as needed to carve out some time.
The day the above photo was taken, it had rained pretty heavily from 3-5 in the afternoon. At 5:30 it had slowed to a sprinkle so we decided to try. By 6 it was still a little misty but the sun was peaking through. The beach was empty because it had been raining most of the day, the sand was smooth (from the rain) and at 6:30 it was mostly dry. The photo below was taken during that session.
I don’t make the official call on weather until 1 hour prior to session time.
If we get rained out in the middle of a session, say we get 20 min in and the sky opens, it will be up to you if you want a re-shoot, at no additional fee or a reduction in the session fee.
All of that said, sometimes it rains and sometimes whether it be your schedule or mine we can’t reschedule and in that case, your deposit is refunded.
